(November 7, 2008) — Eleanor Horne, Vice President of Educational Testing Service’s Social Investment Fund, received the Van Zandt Williams Jr. Community Involvement Award for her role in community service. The award is presented by PlanSmart NJ, a statewide civic action group committed to improving the quality of community life through the advancement of sound land use planning and regional cooperation. It was formerly known as the Regional Planning Partnership, a Trenton-based land use research and advocacy nonprofit organization that is four decades old. The award will be presented during the organization’s 40th Anniversary Annual Dinner on Nov. 6, 2008 at the Hyatt New Brunswick from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. “This award is a great honor for Eleanor and ETS,” says Kurt Landgraf, President and CEO of ETS. “It acknowledges her hard work and involvement on behalf of local civic, educational and charitable endeavors. It also recognizes her for helping create the Lawrence Hopewell Trail that runs through ETS’s property. She embodies ETS’s mission of supporting education, learning and personal development.” Van Zandt Williams Jr. was a long-time PlanSmart board member, and a former chairman. The award was established in 1996 when he retired from the board, and is intended to be given to an individual who, through active civic involvement or volunteer efforts, has made a personal commitment to the quality of life in New Jersey. It is not necessarily given every year. Other honorees include Daniel Caldwell, River Route Advisory Committee & Burlington County; Richard Dovey, Atlantic County Utilities Authority; The Honorable Thomas D. Carver; Frank McDonough, New York Shipping Association; and Reverend Edward Dorn, Calvary Community Development Corporation.
