Corsican
Corsican is a Romance language spoken on the island of Corsica, alongside French, which is the official language. A similar dialect to Corsican is also spoken to some extent in the Gallura area of Sardinia. It has strong similarities to Italian and in particular the dialects of Italian from Tuscany. Most linguists consider it as a Tuscan dialect, the closest to modern Italian.

While Corsican was traditionally an oral language, it now is widely taught and researched as well as having many authors and songwriters who use it for their creations, thus more and more written material is available, so if you are really interested a web search should be rewarding, especially if you start the search in French, eg langue corse, rather than English
