English Courses in Auckland, New Zealand
Auckland is not only New Zealand's largest urban area with a population of over a million people, it is also a clean and spacious city that offers a fast paced and exciting life style, with world class restaurants, shops and entertainment, as well as beautiful parks, beaches, bush walks and islands. Although Wellington is the country's capitol, Auckland is the centre of commerce and industry, and is perhaps the most vibrant, bustling and multicultural city in New Zealand. Auckland has a mild temperature year round and is a great place to learn English in New Zealand anytime of the year. The city's landscape is dominated by natural features such as volcanic hills, two beautiful harbours, and dozens of bays, beaches and islands. Many of the city's volcanic hills were once the site of Maori pas, or fortified villages, but in modern times they are better known for their spectacular views of the city and beyond. Auckland lies between the harbours of Waitemata and Manukau and is seemingly laid out so that the glistening waters can be seen from every vantage point. Auckland is known throughout the world as a water lover's paradise, with some of the best beaches, swimming, diving, fishing, sailing and windsurfing in the region. The city's nickname of 'the city of sails' is very apt considering Auckland has more boats per capita than anywhere else in the world. Auckland is generally considered to be one of the world's most pleasant cities to live in, with a cost of living similar to that of Australia and a little cheaper than the USA, Canada or Britain. The city also boasts a pleasant climate, with warm summers and mild winters, although rain can fall at anytime of the year.
