American English Academy (AEA) is an international school established in 1992 in Sofia, Bulgaria by Frank and Ruth Munsey. It started with 15 American students, but each year there has been remarkable growth. In the year 2007-2008 AEA served students from 31 countries and had a total enrollment of 175 students. AELTA was established in 1995 by a group of professionals in the field of English Language Teaching, namely Karine Mouradyan, who in the first election of officers was elected AELTA First President; Patricia Boyle; Nelly Harutunyan; Maria Bobrova; Antje Cripe, Rousan Topchyan, Angela Hakobyan, Anoush Khatchikyan, Nelly Baratyan, Ruzan Sargssyan, Ruzann Danielyan and others. GIBS is a bilingual (German-English) senior secondary school. At present the school comprises more than 400 students and 47 teaching staff. The rest of the team is made up of the French-, English- and Spanish-speaking co-teachers, the secretary and the janitor.

The language of instruction is English in the form of "flexible monolingualism". The first three months of Year 1 take the form of an intensive phase of language acquisition after which the students have reached a level of language competence which enables them to participate in lessons conducted in the target language. Following the intensive phase, linguistic back-up for other subjects is provided when required in the English class. In Year 7 History is taught in French.
During the first five school years in particular, different subjects collaborate on broad projects that supplement language instruction. Foley’s school was founded in 1970 by Ward and Pat Foley. The school was originally established in Famagusta – the school’s shirt monogram fgs actually stands for Famagusta Grammar School, not Foley’s! By 1974, the school was well established with about 250 pupils, all at secondary level. However, you will recognise the significance of that year – 1974. Disaster struck and the Foley’s and most of their pupils were forced to evacuate Famagusta and the school overnight.

After several months camping in Dhekhelia, hoping to return, it became apparent that this would not be possible and the family moved to Limassol. Here they managed to gather together some of their former pupils and began re-establishing the school. They were fortunate to find the current school building, which had originally been constructed for the RAF, and Limassol Grammar and Junior School was born. Over the years, the school became known as “Foley’s� and in recent times this has become the school’s official name.

We now have around 440 pupils across the whole age range (4-18 years old). An unusual feature is that we are all together on the same site and this contributes to a family atmosphere.

For full-time international students, our Comprehensive English Course in Vancouver can help you improve your English speaking and listening skills, learn new vocabulary, and improve your reading and writing. For a more challenging study, we also offer an Intensive English Course. Part-time study is also available for some visitors. The TOEFL iBT Test Preparation course is ready to help you with the TOEFL iBT Exam. This latest version of the TOEFL contains integrated skills tasks and also includes a speaking section. The TOEFL iBT course at GEOS Vancouver teaches students the skills and strategies needed for getting the score they need in addition to improving advanced English skills. Essay writing, critical listening, reading comprehension, and structure are all part of our course.
We also offer TOEIC Test Preparation for those business-minded students and professionals looking to get ahead. Students can also study Listening &amp; Pronunciation, Writing, and Business Communication part-time. In addition to your morning lessons, afternoon classes are designed to further develop your skills under the supervision of one of our trained teachers.

These lessons provide a comprehensive review of the Canadian culture and customs. Students who have reached the intermediate level can take the TOEFL® or TOEIC® preparation course in the afternoon.


Plus Courses
In addition to the group lessons, either 5 (PLUS 5) or 10 (PLUS 10) private lessons are available (one plus lesson equals 45 minutes).

The combination of group and private lessons is especially useful if, in addition to general language learning, you need to develop or improve certain skills. We will develop with you an individual teaching plan which will enable you to concentrate on your own specific needs. Summer English Programs for Teens

Summer Teen Programs are for students from 12 to 17 years old.

Summer Teen Programs are designed for young students to study in a comfortable environment. Teenagers enjoy this program because they study in classes separate from adult students. We make sure that classes are small, to give young students individual attention for maximum English improvement. Summer Teen Programs include special activities and trips in the afternoons, evenings and on weekends.

Summer Teen Programs combine 3 hours of classroom English instruction every weekday morning, with fun and educational activities in the afternoons. Programs are available for the months of June, July and August. Enrolment is available for 2, 3, 4 or 7 weeks. Students can either stay in dormitory accommodation on the campus of the University of Toronto or can stay in homestay accommodation with a Canadian family.

The curriculum for our Summer Teen Programs is specially designed for younger students. Teachers are professional, caring, and enthusiastic, and courses are dynamic and interactive. As always, the programs have a communicative focus, and special topics relevant and meaningful to young students are implemented for maximum student motivation. Regular testing and homework are also integral parts of the Summer programs.

Summer Teen Programs also provide an excellent opportunity for students to make friends with other teens from around the world. Our Summer programs attract students from a wide variety of countries for a truly international experience. Last year, students who attended our Summer Teen Programs were from many regions of the world including Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

The RIVER ECHO Language School opened its doors in the summer of 1999.



It was during my own travels that I was inspired to open a school here in Wakefield: for several years I and my husband started off our holidays in Central America by spending a week at a Spanish language school in Costa Rica and living with a Costa Rican family.

Our Adult Programs are available for students aged 17 years of age or older. On average, students attending our school are between the ages of 18 and 35 years old. Certificates are given to students in all of our programs if they attend our school for 4 weeks or more.

We operate on a system of weekly enrolment, which means that students can start on any Monday for a course of any length, from one week to any number of months.

There are twelve levels through which students can progress in our Grammar and Conversation programs. Each level has a specially designed curriculum.

Each curriculum is divided into weekly blocks. The maximum time students can stay in one level varies from 4 weeks to 6 weeks depending on the level of difficulty.

The Integrated Skills Program is excellent if you want to improve your English structure. You will focus on speaking, grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing skills. Connect offers 12 different levels to progress through.
It is an excellent program for those students who want to improve all aspects of their English.
Focus: Developing your structural English skills for use in everyday situations.
Topics include: conditionals, modals, tense review, integrated studies, book reports and basic to advanced grammar review.

Conversation Program
The Conversation Program is designed for students who want to improve their fluency, listening and vocabulary skills. Connect uses an exclusively designed conversation curriculum with 12 levels to progress through.
Each day you will have a DIFFERENT TEACHER. This ensures that you experience many different styles of conversation and you improve more quickly.
You are given a separate speaking test to check your level of conversation ability.
Focus: Developing your conversational English for use in everyday situations.
Topics include: going to the restaurant, slang and idioms, debating, cultural and current event discussions, building vocabulary and understanding current T.V. shows.

Intensive Listening
This course is designed to improve your English listening skills. The course is exclusively designed for Connect. It gives you valuable listening practice in various situations. It is excellent for those who want to improve their listening for the TOEIC or TOEFL tests.
Focus: Improving your listening skills when watching TV, movies or radio.
Topics Include: Scenes from movies, radio news reports, telephone practice and television talk shows.

English Idioms
This course focuses on the study of informal English. You will learn about English Idioms, idioms and proverbs. The program is designed to provide you with a better understanding of English as it is used in television, movies and on the street.
Focus: Vocabulary study of different kinds of usage of slang.
Topics Include : Slang at the restaurant, slang on television, slang at work and popular proverbs.

Speaking Clearly
This course is designed for those of you in need of improving your overall pronunciation skills and enhancing your understanding of spoken English.
Focus: The program focuses on pronunciation practice and listening strategies.
Topics include: word stress, intonation, rhythm and identifying problem sounds.

TOEIC Exam Preparation
Connect specially designed examination preparation to meet the needs of each student. Our small classes allow students to speak more with the teacher. TOEIC (the Test of English for International Communication) is an important qualification for those of you who need to prove your proficiency in English to related work situations.
Focus: practicing the listening, reading and grammar skills necessary to improve your TOEIC score.

English for Medical Professionals


Located in British Columbia, Canada, the Vancouver Medical English Institute (VMEI) offers immersion courses in English as a Second Language designed for Medical Professionals.

These courses are offered both at the Vancouver campus of the Institute and as an outreach program in your own country.

Using the methods and unique curriculum developed by Pikku Vichert, the courses are concentrated on the use of English in a medical context. They teach both the language and culturally appropriate communication skills for practicing medical careers in an English speaking environment.

VMEI understands that medical professionals need to make the best possible use of their limited time and therefore it has designed courses that produce results as quickly as possible. All Medical English courses are limited to a maximum of four students per class. This allows students effective interaction and provides ample opportunity for individual attention.

The school has a modern language laboratory and a library with subscriptions to medical periodicals and daily newspapers. When students arrive at the English School of Canada, the first thing that they notice is that our school is different. At ESC, we take the time to discuss and understand your need. We know that you are coming to Canada to improve your English language skills, and our goal is to help you meet that objective.
When you arrive at ESC, you will meet the Directors and have a personal orientation tour of the school. Then we work with you to assess your personal needs and objectives - you will complete a skills assessment test, and we will recommend a program and class schedule to ensure that you can meet your personal goals.

Learning English includes practicing your skills outside of the classroom. Our additional Educational Services are provided so that your learning continues even after your classes.

At the end of the day, we want you to relax and enjoy yourself. After classes, we offer many school activities for your enjoyment. Watch a movie, play soccer, go to a baseball game, or visit the art gallery with your new friends and a teacher. On weekends, there are excursions to other cities and famous sites. We have something for everyone&#039;s interests! All activities are optional, and some have an extra cost.
